Using of antibiotics rationally be construed as an indication of the appropriate antibiotic, right patient, right medication, right dose, and be wary of the side effects of drugs. Irrational use of drugs was happened in whole world, characterized by over drug use is not appropriate dose and duration of consumption, and improper prescribing or administration of drugs not appropriate with diagnose.

To describe using of antibiotics in post surgery patients in hospitals Dr. R.M. Djoelham Binjai descriptive study was held with the design case study and continued by statistical analysis. The population of the all medical record data that post surgery patients was treated in Hospital Dr. R.M. Djoelham Binjai in 2012 some 87 people, a whole sample of the all population.

Has founded the highest proportion by sociodemographic age group 21-28 years (37.9%), the highest female sex (62.1%), the type most commonly used antibiotics post surgery is cefotaxime (75.9%), the number of doses often given is 1 g / 8 hours (64.4%), duration of antibiotic use was highest 4 days and 5 days (20.7%),%), drug dosage form are most given is injection form (94.3 %) and the highest surgery SC (27.6%).

Based on the above data concluded that giving less antibiotics as indicated by the patient's weight was not listed, and the timing of drug sensitivity examination.
