THE EFFECT OF DRILL METHOD ON STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION AT SMP SHAFIYYATUL AMALIYYAH

This study was aimed to investigate the effect of applying drill method on student’s reading comprehension. This study was a quantitative study with pre-test and post-test experimental design. There were two variables in which the independent variable was drill method and the dependent variable was reading comprehension. This study was conducted at SMP Shafiyyatul Amaliyyah. The population was the grade seven students with the total number of students were 116. The sample of this study was the class 7A and 7c with the total number of samples were 58. The samples were divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group will taught by using drill method and the control group will taught by using the conventional technique. Both group will given pre-test and post-test to obtain the data. The data will be analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the research of the data analysis by using t-test formula, the calculation showed that of t_(-observed)(3.20) > 〖t-〗_table(1.673) at the level significance (α= 0.05) and df (56). It meant that Ha was accepted and the using of drill method to increase students’ reading comprehension more effective than using conventional method.
