Defamation as a legal act can be seen in a narrow or broad sense, but in the Netherlands itself , the tort has been expanded after experiencing the effect of tort law which considers a defamation act is not only an offense of defamation and slander, but can be sued independently as an unlawful act.Compensation is generally divided in categories of material loss and immaterial loss, which are provided for in the articles in the Code of Civil Law; however, since immaterial goods cannot be calculated with written verification of the data so that it is only the judges who declared the judgment for damages arising from defamation.
