Lead is a chemical element included in the group of heavy metal and is not needed by the body at all. If it enters the body of living organism even though in small amount, it will accumulate in the body and can result in health disorder like hypertension. The purpose of observational study with cross-sectional design was to analyze the influence of lead content in the drinking water from the artesial well and the risk factor on the incident of hypertension in Desa Kapias Batu VIII, Tanjung Balai Subdistrict, Asahan District. The samples for this study were 102 persons consuming the water drawn from the artesian wells. The data obtained were analyzed through X2 test and multiple logistic regression tests at α = 5%. The result of this study showed that there were four variables having significant relationship with the incident of hypertension such as the consentration of lead in the water drawn from the artesian well, consuming the water from the artesian well, age, and nutritional status. The result of multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression tests showed that nutritional status was the most dominant factor influencing the potential incident of hypertension.
