SPEECH ACT THOSE ARE USED BETWEEN FOREIGNER AND THE OFFICER OF TOURIST INFORMATION CENTER

This study aims to find out the types of speech act those are used between foreigner and the officer of tourist information center and to find out the most dominant type of speech act those are used between foreigner and the officer of tourist information center. This study was conducted by using a qualitative descriptive approach. In this study, the data were recorded from the dialogue between tourist information center and foreigner which occur in tourist information center. The source of data were transcribed into written form before it analyzed. The result shows that there are 145 utterances. The findings indicated that dialogue occur in tourist information center applied seven types of speech acts; assertive, performative, verdictive, expressive, directive, commisive, and phatic. The total calculation of speech act types are Assertives are 25.52%, performatives are 2.07%, verdictives are 7.59%, expressive are 6.89%, directives are 6.21%, commisives are 35.17%, and pahatics are 16.55%. It shows that commisive is the most dominant type of Speech Act, which is occurred in tourist information center. It means, tourist information center is the right center where the traveler especially for foreigners to ask more information due to their next travel, and by using the question form as the most dominant type accured in tourist information center, it also shows that, the foreigner were carrious to know about the event that would be held in the city they were visited.
