GAMBARAN PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP KELUARGA TENTANG HIV/AIDS DI KLINIK VCT RSUP.H.ADAM MALIK MEDAN TAHUN 2011

Infectious diseases HIV / AIDS is the world's largest health problems today. A growing problem in relation to HIV / AIDS is the number of cases continues to rise with a high enough rate. Facts found most people with HIV / AIDS stigma and discrimination faced with a growing family and community environment. To the detriment of the patient from the psychological side is also increasingly provide opportunities for people with HIV in the body of the growth and development that can lead to death. For that psychosocial support helps reduce the stigma and discrimination and other negative consequences of HIV-positive.

The purpose of this study was to determine knowledge and attitudes of the family picture on HIV / AIDS at the VCT clinic RSUP.H.Adam Malik Medan in 2012, the study was conducted in February - March 2012 with the methods of the study is a descriptive nature, a way of sampling with Accidental Sampling techniques that account for 50 respondents.

The results showed respondents knowledge about HIV/AIDS is good as much as 23 respondents (46%), just as much as 26 respondents (52%), and less as one respondents (2%). While the results showed that the respondents attitudes about HIV / AIDS is a positive as much as 48 respondents (96%) and negative by 2 respondents (4%).

The conclusion from this study that the majority of respondents knowledge enough, while the majority of respondents positive attitude. It is recommended that the existing staff VCT at RSUP.H.Adam Malik Medan to more frequently provide counseling to the families who visit the family so as to increase knowledge about HIV / AIDS.
